Every birthday, anniversary and special occasion, we carefully choose and offer gifts to our loved ones. It’s something we do naturally and most of us don’t think about its deeper implications. Yet, the gift we choose and how we present it says so much about us, our relationships, and the complex social structures within our community. Behind every perfect present lie social, psychological and emotional currents.
The first memory is a feeling of excitement as a child receiving a gift, unwrapping it, the expectation the anticipation and above all someone believes I am special … forward a few decades and gifts still spark all of those feelings in me and so much more.
How about you?
Why do you do gifts?
What type of gift are you choosing? What is your message?

5 Secrets to High quality, Environmentally friendly Gift Wrapped Presents
Tip #1 - Take your time
Money is not the determining factor to beautiful gift wrapping, Time is! you know exactly what I am talking about, like everything else in life doing things in a rush never yields optimal results.
Tip #2 - Make it personal
The more personal your gift wrapping the more special the message to the person receiving it, what colours do they like? what is their style? more artsy, vintage or minimal? etc ...
"How can your wrapping say I know you?"
Tip #3 - Less waste
Make sure your wrapping can be, reused, recycled or composted, if you are doing it yourself then choose your supplier, one I know personally in Somerset West South Africa which I use is Core Pack check their website: https://corepack.co.za/store/
Tip #4 - DIY or Shop
Many people I know really enjoy gift wrapping their one presents but I also know many who really is not their strong point, so my suggestion is don't make this painful for yourself, you can have your gift wrapped in a shop as well, yes of course you will be more limited in your choice of gift and that in my opinion is not a down side. Most high end shops do provide a gift wrapping service when buying from them having said that there are also local hidden treasures that do that as well, again one I know personally in Somerset West South Africa which has also beautiful gifts to choose from is Chelsea House click here
Tip #5 - Mix it up
Make your wrapping appropriate to the gift, for example don't try and wrap a ball on paper ;p Have fun with your gifts, make them age appropriate, some in paper, some furoshiki, others in a lovely bag.
