Often referred to as the art of placement, Feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy that seeks to find balance and harmony between elements. In the simplest of terms feng shui is about positioning different elements to optimize flow.
Style up a shelf with Feng Shui
I know if you google Feng Shui you will get an ocean of information which by the end you will probably feel overwhelmed and it is just too much to deal with right now! at the same time we look at a picture like the one on our right and wish our shelf would feel more like this then what it is at the moment, it doesn't have to be so minimalist just give off good vibes... as a Senior Feng Shui Sustainable Interior Designer let me share with you a few golden nuggets
Here is what to do:
Declutter - Mismatched items and impulse purchases is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for creating flow and personal style. Especially when it comes to Books on shelves they can be challenging to get rid of, since we tend to have high hopes that someday soon we’ll tackle our enormous reading list. We also may hold onto books that once were meaningful, even though they don’t resonate with us anymore. This can even mean that we avoid buying the books that we really want to read, because we feel like we need to get through the ones we already have first.
Play with colors - Color psychology not only affects a person’s mood, but also the overall energy forces in the house. If you want to find out what your colour scheme is Take my free Interior Style Quiz Here
Introduce natural elements - For example using house plants, flowers and bamboo, to further in-still the elements of nature so the flow of energy remains uninterrupted.
Objects that you hold dear. - This will make you and the rest of your household feel more comfortable and serene, thereby improving the positive energy.
